The ambassador program provides a unique opportunity for mentoring pairs to help spread awareness on the impact of mentoring while promoting the organization to others who may benefit from our GIL programs. Ambassadors will be in contact with our team and given the appropriate materials to encourage community involvement and recruit mentees and mentors. As ambassadors, you will be serving as role model for other mentors or mentees, so your participation in our meetings is incredibly important. Our ambassadors will learn about the collective efforts of the organization and how the work of each team is planned and executed effectively to support the broader mission and values of the organization.
Benefits:
Both mentors and mentees may receive community service hours through their work, while also getting the chance to extend their voices to help make a difference within the mentoring field and their communities through unique leadership opportunities. Ambassadors get to learn about the positive impact and the role mentoring play in helping young people thrive and strive across programs, campaigns, and events. Gain leadership skills by taking on a more active role in the mentoring community.
Build relationships with other professionals, mentors, mentees, and leaders in the field. Develop valuable skills that can enhance resumes or LinkedIn profiles, including event planning, recruitment, and advocacy. Receive recognition in newsletters, social media, or events for contributing to the success and growth of the program. Ambassadors may receive a certificate of recognition or other formal acknowledgment from the mentoring program.
Expectations:
Ambassadors must uphold the values and present an image that align with our mission and vision. This includes consistency and exceptional progress with his or her mentee(s) that is displayed in such a way that complements our image. If an ambassador is a mentor and have not yet been paired with a mentee, they must show commitment to the organization through active participation (volunteering).
Ambassadors are expected to support the organization’s efforts and speaking positively about the organization and their campaigns. Must be willing to commit time and effort to the ambassador role, including attending ambassador meetings, events, and outreach activities. A strong belief in the power of mentorship and a willingness to share personal experiences to inspire others. Ability to speak confidently, engage diverse audiences, and use social media or other platforms to advocate for the program.
